The Austin Independent School District and The University of Texas at Austin are excited to offer a new pilot program, Texas MicroMajor. The Texas MicroMajor is a new recognition for high-achieving high school students who complete four UT Austin approved college- level courses that prepare students to pursue competitive programs of study, earn college credit, and accelerate progress towards a timely college graduation.Texas resident students who complete approved courses and demonstrate success in college- level work may receive a Texas MicroMajor.
High achieving students that are currently enrolled at Akins High School, Reagan Early College High School, and Bowie High School, have completed necessary pre- requisite courses, and pledge to complete four approved college- level courses prior to graduation are eligible to apply.
Students must complete at least four courses from an approved list of UT Austin OnRamps, dual-enrollment, or online courses, and select Advanced Placement (AP) or other college courses. Students may pursue a MicroMajor in the field of STEM, Arts and Humanities, or Multidisciplinary Studies.
