Greetings, Bowie Parents and Guardians!
Students who need to make up or retake a previously administered STAAR End-of-Course exam will do so Dec. 7-10:
Dec. 7th @ 9:05 am - English 1 EOC
Dec. 7th @ 9:05 am or 12:15 pm - U.S. History EOC
Dec. 8th @ 9:05 am - Algebra 1 EOC
Dec. 9th @ 9:05 am or 12:15 pm - Biology
WHERE TO GO: To locate your child’s assigned testing classroom/portable, use the Ctrl + F keys on your keyboard to search for the last 5 digits of your student’s ID# in the DEC 2021 EOC ROSTERS document. Please notice there are 3 tabs at the bottom of the document for different days of testing; your child may or may not be on more than one page depending on how many EOC exams they are scheduled to take this week. These rosters will also be posted on the courtyard windows in front of the library. Click HERE for a campus map to help your child locate their testing site.
If your child is scheduled to test at 9:05 AM, they should go directly to their test site at the start of the day (they do not have to check in with their regular classroom teacher or wait to be called). If they are scheduled to test at 12:15 PM, then your child will be released by their 6th-period teacher to go to their assigned test site. Note: the teachers have been provided a list of students to release for testing but may appreciate a respectful reminder from the student.
WHAT TO BRING: Students must bring their fully charged AISD Chromebook and charger with them to the test as all STAAR EOC exams are administered through a secure online platform. They may also want to bring a bottle of water and dress in comfortable layers.
AFTER THE TEST: Students will be allowed to leave and return to their regular classroom as soon as they complete their EOC test. Students who are still testing during the lunch period will be allowed a lunch break in the testing room or before they return to their regular classroom. Students may bring a sack lunch or the teacher administering the test can order the student a lunch from the cafeteria.
ACCOMMODATIONS: Students receiving special education or 504 services, or who are identified as having limited English proficiency, will be provided the STAAR testing accommodations indicated in their personalized plan. These accommodations have been recently double-checked for accuracy by Bowie staff. Students with “Oral Administration” as a STAAR accommodation will use either their personal headphones or headphones provided to access the embedded text-to-speech feature on the online system as indicated on the DEC 2021 EOC ROSTERS.
PRACTICE TESTS: The State’s testing vendor is new, so there are some minor functionality changes in the STAAR EOC testing platform. Students can preview the new functionality and access practice tests HERE.
