SchoolMessenger is the system the district and the campus use to send important communication via recorded phone messages, email blasts, and text messages. Sometimes parents report that they are not receiving communications, so here are some tips to make sure you are in the loop:
- Look in your email’s spam and junk folders for diverted Bowie messages and check your email settings to see if Bowie is one of your blocked addresses. Reconfigure your email settings to ensure as needed.
- Follow the Parent Self-Serve Instructions to verify that Bowie has your correct email address(es) on file. On the My Messages tile, be sure to check the boxes “Administrative Messages” and “Campus Message.”
- TRICKY - If at any point in time you “unsubscribed” from Bowie’s SchoolMessenger emails - even if this was several years ago or when an older child graduated from Bowie - then you won’t be able to receive ANY emails from Bowie. This is why some of you are missing out on Bowie emails, and there is no way to see in Parent Self-Serve if you are unsubscribed. So, if you believe your correct email is on file and that your notifications on the My Messages tile are configured correctly, but you’re not receiving emails from Bowie, then it’s likely that you are indeed unknowingly “unsubscribed.” To re-subscribe to Bowie emails, please submit Bowie’s Rescubscribe or Remove Block form.
