NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1: Before beginning the new student enrollment process, please review the following guidelines:
- To enroll at James Bowie High School the child’s legal parent or guardian must reside within Bowie's attendance zone or have received an approved transfer from AISD Office of Student Services.
- A student younger than 18 must be accompanied and enrolled by a parent or a legal guardian.
- Students over the age of 21 cannot be enrolled unless the student receives Special Education services.

- Host families of Foreign Exchange Students also must have guardianship from the Office of Student Services.
- A step-parent cannot enroll a student unless the step-parent has a notarized statement from the parent giving permission to act on the parent’s behalf or some other type of legal documentation giving them guardianship.
- If a parent/guardian and student are residing with another person at their home within Bowie’s attendance zone, they must provide a Declaration of Residence (DoR). These forms are accepted after August 1st for the next school year. The DoR must be signed by both parties in front of a notary or in front of one of the Bowie Registrars.
