How To Submit a Level Change Request:
1. Student submits the Level-Change Request Form. The Google form will be available on Monday, September 20, 2021 on the BLEND Bowie Community Course, the BLEND Counselor Course, and on the JBHS.org website. All forms must be submitted by 4PM on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.
2. Guardian sends an email from the parent to the counselor acknowledging and consenting to the student’s level change request. The guardian’s email must be submitted by 4PM on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.
3. By Friday, October 1, 2021, the advanced course teacher will let the student know if the request was approved or denied. If it was approved, a schedule change notice from the counselor will be sent to the Student's AISD Gmail. If denied, the student can resubmit a level-change request at the end of the fall semester.
We are beginning the 2021-22 identification process for any students not previously identified for the Gifted and Talented (GT) program in earlier grades. The process includes several steps: nomination, screening, the testing process during the school day, and possible selection. At the high school level, the gifted program coincides with the Advanced and AP programs. There are no “pull-out” programs or GT classes per se, nor is identification of giftedness on the student’s official transcript. Students who are identified as gifted at the high school level must take Advanced or AP level courses in the areas where they show that ability. If you would like more information about the GT nomination process for any students not previously identified, please email Academic Director Kaylin Brett (firstname.lastname@example.org) by September 24th.
