NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERSHIP:
NHS applications are issued to qualifying juniors and
seniors after GPAs through the end of the 1st semester have been compiled
by the registrar - usually in February. If the student has a qualifying
3.75 GPA, he/she will be invited to apply for membership.
An application form with documentation of volunteer
service hours (8 or more hours since June 1 of the previous year,
in or outside of school) must be completed and submitted by the deadline.
Each applicant will then be rated on leadership and character by the
seven teachers the student chooses as evaluators and must receive
acceptable scores. The entire faculty also has the opportunity to
provide feedback on the applicants and approve their admittance.
Once all these requirements have been met successfully,
the applicant is invited to join NHS and will be inducted into the
organization.
